The Extreme Hangout
Cop26, Glasgow

1st Nov - 12th Nov 2021

From 1st - 12th November 2021 the UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow. The COP26 summit will bring world leaders and organisations together to accelerate action on climate change, the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. EXTREME’s activation at COP26 has been inspired by our passion to protect our planet and our belief that the young generation need a platform for their voice to be heard at COP. Set to be the most affected by climate change, their active participation is of paramount importance.

Driven by this EXTREME are creating a dynamic hub at COP called the EXTREME Hang Out, a platform for active participation and a space for inspiration, engagement, education, and entertainment.

With the overall goal to help drive the younger generation’s vision for a sustainable future, the EXTREME Hangout will be where young people can come together to share ideas, learn from others, be inspired and ultimately leave with a renewed passion, understanding and urgency to help drive the green agenda.

There will be 12 days of panel discussions from opinion leaders, curated by One Young World, as well as entertaining evenings. The talks will happen downstairs with a great space upstairs for meetings plus a whole range of brilliant events in the evening with DJs, live music and more.

Enabled by EXTREME, the event is supported by partner NGOs and the key messages and discussion points coming out of the EXTREME Hangout will reverberate around the world, engaging young people from the Highlands of Scotland to the coral atolls of the Indian Ocean, uniting them in their vision for a sustainable future.

MacBlondie

MacBlondie

Saturday 13th November

Founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein and originally recognised as a pioneer of the early American new wave and punk scenes of the mid-late 1970s BLONDIE’s arrival on the commercial market was cast with the release of Parallel Lines in 1978.
Over the next three years, the band achieved several hit singles including "Heart of Glass", "Call Me", "Rapture" and "The Tide Is High" and became noted for its eclectic mix of musical styles incorporating elements of disco, pop, reggae, and early rap music.

Due to Chris Stein succumbing to a rare disease they disbanded in 1982 and Debbie Harry pursued a solo career while caring for her partner Chris. The band re-formed in 1997, achieving renewed success and a number one single in the United Kingdom with "Maria" in 1999, exactly 20 years after their first UK No.1 single ("Heart of Glass").

Retaining a huge fan base the band are as popular now as they ever were and are imitated by talented musicians, worldwide – tonight we bring you Scotland’s Blondie tribute MacBlondie a genuine quality tribute to Blondie!
